Childbirth is miraculous and I believe every child is a treasure and gift. Getting to support and encourage families as they navigate bringing their little one into the world is a deep honor and joy!

Hello! My name is Shelby, it’s wonderful to meet you!
I completed a year long Expecting Joy Doula Apprenticeship in 2019. Since then, in between having my own kiddos, I have had the great joy of supporting births across the greater Seattle area as well as pursue further education through Expecting Joy resources and classes. My desire to become a doula began when I was welcomed into the sacred spaces of dear friends’ births - to experience the miracle of childbirth is really unmatched!
As a doula, it’s my desire to bring peace, confidence and encouragement into this beautiful journey. The process of birth is vulnerable, and it’s my hope to bring the reassurance that you are not alone, but deeply supported in navigating decisions to make this a meaningful and treasured experience.
In my free time, you’ll find me wrangling my five amazing kids with my incredible husband. We love our church, community and cozy popcorn movie nights!
Shelby was so incredibly helpful, attentive, kind, and warm. She prioritized my wife’s wellbeing and her needs and used her wealth of expertise to make the labor and birthing process incredibly smooth and peaceful. We will absolutely be using Expecting Joy again and would highly recommend working with Shelby.

Having Shelby as my doula made my birth experience the best it could be. She supported me from start to finish and helped me feel more comfortable.
